A group of numbers has an average. Is that the same as a mean or a median?

The average is the sum of all the numbers divided by the total number.  For example:

2 4 6 7 9  has an average of 5.6

The median is the middle score of the set.  So the median is 6

The mode is the most frequently occurring score.  There is no mode in this data set.  Now the following numbers:   2 2 2 4 6 has a mode of 2

The mean, median and mode are referred to as measures of central tendency.
