Don't have a clue, but I can tell you from experience that a horse will do the same thing.
We have a mountain cabin with no access to power lines so we had to install alternative power. The initial set up is very expensive. $2400 for 4 solar panels, $9000 for batteries, and $3500 for a back up propane fueled 15K generator plus the cost of propane. All the equipment is high quality, esp. the batteries. The solar panels are good for ambient light, TVs, radio's, small water pump,etc. If you have to use a vacuum, hair dryer, microwave, griddle or other high energy appliance, you have to fire up the generator. If it is cloudy, you have to run the generator to keep the batteries charged. If someone forgets and leaves a bathroom light on or electric fan or even a night light, then your batteries run out before morning. I would not recommend anyone installing solar as their only source of power in a home because it is a never ending job to keep everything running and I doubt you would ever make up the difference of the initial costs.About the time you start to get even on the power bill, it is time to replace everything. A vacation home is a temporary inconvenience, but it would get old pretty quick in an every day situation. If they ever get power lines close to our cabin, I would switch over in a heartbeat.
There is a poppy that is named "California Poppy", I would assume that it is native to that area. It is a small orange flower, only about the size of a quarter, you can buy the seeds online.
Shampoo your carpets and then spray with febreze; it's a miracle worker. I have two dogs that occasionally tangle with a skunk, and it is always in the middle of the night when I am already for bed. I spray them with febreze and it actually kills the skunk smell, so I can bath them the next day. Anything that can stop skunk smell, surely can cure your carpets. Good luck!
I know this sounds gross but I have read several recipes for home made deer repellent sprays, from water with dish soap to water with hot sauce in it; but all of them say to add 1 cup of human urine; I know that would repel me!
If you ever notice someone who is whimpering or crying about a situation; their upper lip trembles. By keeping a "stiff upper lip" they are not showing their opponent any indication of emotion or fear. Shows a brave front.
According to the Bible; everyone spoke the same language until Man decided to build the Tower of Babel. I agree with papermoon; both I and my spouse have trouble with our feet. I discovered FIT-FLOPS on Amazon.com and they are a God-send...instantly relieves all the pressure points on the soles of your feet plus helps with any back problems. They now make boots and sneakers as well as sandals. A bit pricey but well worth it.
