Not very well. I'm not sure about raptors however.
When a bird is bought for ornamental or prestige purposes and when the owner realizes this bird is not only loud but messy, sequesters the bird in a basement and turns the lights out, does not visit with the bird except to replenish food and this goes on for years.
I have 3 hens. Each lays 1 egg/day, except when they molt. All 3 are molting and start to molt late October. This condition can last from 3-4 months. However, one of my birds is still laying 1 egg/day even though she is in molt. She didn't do this last year but to answer your question, unless they are caged and fed laying formula only, a happy, well-cared for bird that is free-range most probably lays 1 egg per day.
No, absolutely not. Any thing that emits an odor or pungency is prohibitive when it comes to parrots. For a list of wood suitable for parrots, please visit http://www.mdvaden.com/bird_page.shtml.
According to AfricanGreyParrot.com, an African Grey (not distinguished between Timneh and Congo species) can live 50-60 years. Alex, the African Grey, who became famous under the study of Dr. Irene Pepperberg, died at the age of 31. There have been documented Greys that have lived to 71 yrs.
