First of all do not buy one of those pre-fab little buildings. Second, make it on a raised concrete slab. Allow for an extra wide door as it might end up as a garden shed. Only use a plan that has at least 30" wide eaves that stick out on three sides and some kind of a porch type overhang over the door. If the shed/office is going to be bigger than a few feet consider a second door - this fro safety in case of a fire or other emergency. The front porch overhnag and wide eaves are so you can stand and unlock the door if it is raining. The wide eaves ensure that rain water does not run down the sides of the building and make massive amounts of mold and, eventually, rot!. You might even want wider eaves so that you can store waste can or lawn mower or wheel barrow outside under them. I am writing from the Central Californina viewpoint. NO weather here! If you are in a place where there is real weather use features such as high pitched roof or Extra close together or thicker wall studs such as 4" by 6" on 12" centers.

It is not legal in most areas to defeat the electric eye. However the thingy on one end is just a mirror. If U put a mirro about one inch in front of the sensor instead of clear across the door area the sensor will think that all is O.K.

If this is a freestanding or attached garage just add "soldiers". Use dry, top quality 2" by 4" studs next to every other wall stud. Cut them to fit firmly next to the existing studs. If the problem is really bad use a new stud next to each exisiting stud. You might also add the pieces of 2 by 4 horzontal between the studs and half way up the walls. If the inside of the garage is drywalled you might have to remove either the drywall or the outside siding for access. Use long deck screws, not nails. Use good quality screws. You can also buy galvanized (Rust proof) T-shaped, flat pieces of steel at the top and bottom of the wall studs where they meet the horizontal bourds at top and bottom of the wall. I did this to my 30 year old California house because the walls felt overstressed when I thumped on them. My house has big, tall roof trusses and wide eaves and I think that the wall studs were overstressed due to heavy weight roof.

Be careful here. If you intend to create a large body of water there are considerations of germs, bugs, mold - and lots of it. Any warm, wet, dark place is just no good unless you have a pro show you how to treat the water ~~~
