It is a good clean city with a not too cold climate, but a fairly rainy one. It is called the rose city because for some reason roses thrive there. It is a very liberal city in a very liberal state.

The common thought is as given by Raider8723. However, there is a growing minority view that oil may not be a fossil fuel at all. The theory is that somehow the compression of the rock strata is continually forming the oil and that is why we keep finding new pockets of gas and oil.
