What does the Bible say about Homosexuality
Answers: 3 Views: 2802 Rating: 1 Posted: 1 year ago

The Bible says that sexual intercourse pertains to the monogamous marriage union of a man and a woman because "He created ... God made man in his own image ... created man and woman". Genesis 1:27 (BT), "Therefore it is a man ... unites himself to his wife so closely that they become one flesh". Genesis 2:24 (BT).

All references in the Bible to homosexual practice are very negative. The Bible states: "You shall not commune with a man as you commune with a woman. It is an abomination!" Leviticus 18:22 (BT). "Whoever has carnal intercourse with a man as one has intercourse with a woman commits an abomination. Both of them shall be put to death; they have brought that death upon themselves." Leviticus 20:13 (BT). There is only one reason a man can be punished with eternal death - because of his sins, for "the wages of sin is death". Rom 6:23 (BW). "But the share of the fearful, and of the unbelieving, and of the defiled, and of the murderers, and of the fornicators, and . shall be a lake burning with fire and brimstone. This is the second death." Rev 21:8 (BW).

It was mainly because of homosexual practices that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed. In Genesis chapter 19, we read that Lot, Abraham's nephew, hosted two angels in his home. The inhabitants of Sodom "called Lot and said to him: Where are the people here who came to you this evening? Bring them out to us, that we may commune with them!" ("that we may commune with them" - UBG). Genesis 19:5 (BT). "Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities in their vicinity [situated] - in like manner having indulged in debauchery and lust for other people's flesh - set an example by incurring the punishment of eternal fire." (of annihilation). Jude 1:7 (BT).

A very similar situation occurred at a later time, in Gibea. An old man was hosting a traveller at his house, "he gave the donkeys their dung, after which they washed their feet and ate and drank. While they were cheering up their hearts, the perverse men of the city surrounded the house, and knocking at the door, said to the old man, the host of the house, 'Bring out the man who has crossed the threshold of your house, we want to communicate with him. And the man, the keeper of the house, coming out unto them, said unto them, Nay, my brethren, I beseech you, do not do this evil: for this man hath entered out of my house; commit not this iniquity." Judges 19:21-23 (BT). This old man called homosexuality an evil, an iniquity.
