OUT OF POCKET SPENDING LIMIT
Answers: 2 Views: 637 Rating: 1 Posted: 13 years ago

Hi there,

I believe this is referring to the deductible that you will have to pay. This is an out of pocket expense that is to be paid by you. The amount varies depending on what type of coverage you have, but it’s the amount you pay for a health service--whether it be $200, $500, or $1000.00 etc.-- before your health insurance company actually starts paying the bill for you.

If you have to pay a deductible of $500.00 for a medical service, but that particular visit only costs $225.00, then it’s obvious that the better deal is to pay for the service yourself. If the medical attention you needed was $10,000.00 and your deductible is $1000.00, better to pay the deductible for obvious reasons.
