HOW DO YOU HARMONIZE THE FOLLOWING PASSAGES?

Mark 10:42-43 NIV Jesus called them together and said, "You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. NOT SO WITH YOU.

1 Peter 5:3 NIV “…elders among you,… God wants you…NOT lording it over those entrusted to you…”

Heb 13:17 NIV Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.

LORD MEANS MASTER, RULER OR BOSS.

Are we required to obey the elders of the church?

The Bible commands that an elder be tested first. I leave it to your discretion to who and what to believe.
Yes, God gives us free will but he also gives the altimative. We either see it his way or else. Now back to the question, how do you harmonize the three passages.
Thanks for your answer. Does God leave it to my discretion to who and what I believe?

Yes! God gives us free will to chose.
