I am not a great computer wizard or anything of that kind but to me what would matter is how much more memory will your old computer hold and how much would that cost versus buying a new computer with more memory weigh the one against the other I guess. Good luck and hope you make a great choice.

    WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you buy a new computer it now comes with Windows 7. No more XP. Many programs do NOT work on 7 because it's a different system altogether. Take it from me. I lost 3 previous programs because I can't install the programs to Windows 7.

Really depends what you do with your computer and what you want to do with your computer. The simple answer is buy a MAC, but if you are really wanting to stick with PC's then just go get a new PC and replace that 512 with everything new because many of the programs will not run on something that small and slow. But if you just want to do really simple stuff, then clean up the old computer and go with it.
