Honestly why do we look at our poop after doing our business?
Was this taught to us during potty training? I don't recall the parents telling me to check out how the poop looks.
Just wondering if anyone knows why people do this, I know it's funny or kind of yucky, but I think most people do practice poop checking.

One thing is to check the color and to make sure there is no blood in your stool.

Good answer! Having diverticulitis I have to check for blood, but I've noticed I do it anyway.
Too see if it's green........

I accidentally swallowed a 50 karat diamond ring 23 years ago and I'm not giving up until I find the darn thing.

Yes. It has lodged itself in a benign polip and keeps growing every year. The doc estimates it to be no less than 105 karats. It should fetch me my villas in Venice and Barcelona once it makes its grand exit.

yes. emergency room. i wound up in the hospital for a month. i got emergency surgery and wound up with a permanent colostomy. i could hardly believe how many stomach pains i had before surgery. some were so bad i wanted to scream. in fact, i prayed to God to let me die to get me out of my misery. you see im still here. God has a plan for me!
carmaxable, I thought that colostomies could now be reversed - is that not true in your case? Are you better since you had the surgery?
yes definately better. i used to go from one extreme to the other. sometimes id go from diarrhea to constipated in one bm. one day i just couldnt go anymore. icouldnt eat or keep anything down. i lost 80 pounds in one month.i was on my way out and very painfully. my dr. was going to send me home from the hospital anyway. a surgeon came in and said i was having surgery. so after that i didnt have any more pain and i could eat liquid diet, most of the time. it took 4 months to recoup.but you know that just freed me. i no longer have to stay home because of diarrhea or pain. i did try for closing of it but they found too much scar tissue. its been 13 yrs, at least.i wouldnt wish on my worst enemy what i been through with this thing
I agree, I think most is subconsciously doing it, others in attempt to detect health problems early (blood in stool, black tarring of stool, etc).

I don't think it's a common discussion so I just thought I'd bring it up for fun. I think the most common place it's discussed is at doctor's offices and comedy routines.
