Do you have any unsolved murder mysteries in you district
I was just reading up on a notorious murder in 1952 that happened about a mile from our house & across the street from my school.The "Betty Shanks murder".I was only 4 years old at the time,Betty was only 22.She was strangled & beaten to death 200 yards from her home.In the quiet little town that Brisbane was in those days it was extremely unusual.The case has never been solved,although over the years 8 people have confessed,all of the confessions proved bogus.
That is unusual, But after almost 60 years ,whoever comitted the murder is most likely dead by now. We do not have any unsolved murders where I live.

They are testing DNA on an 88 year old living in a nursing home with DNA found at the scene.Lucky there is no death penalty here,if it matches he will probably get life.(LOL)

I think more than anything, to be able to put a case to rest is good especially if there is living family involve that just need to know. I doubt they would do anything to the 88 year old. I think the window for justice is closed on that one. Life justice anyway.
Gee, what took them so long to test this man, Even if he is guilty he will propably pass away before sentencing.
They suspected the policeman who found her for many years.Virtually ruined his career (& his life).I actually knew him when I became a little older & he never seemed capable of such a thing to me.

Well Tommy , and the rest of you hobos,I live in Daniel Morcombe country so yes we do here.
For our overseas friends Daniel Morcombe was abot 13 yrs old and waiting to go Christmas shopping some oh 8 years ago.
A bus came along but did not stop as it was full. The driver signaled to Daniel that another bus was coming, it arrived minutes later but Daniel was gone and has not been seen since nor any sign of him.
His parents have never stopped trying to find Daniel and the biggesr hunt in Australia resulted.
The Morcombes sold their home to finance the search, every year since Daniel dissapered there have been fund raisers for the search, even a motorcycle run each year with over a thousand bikes taking part.

I know the case well PL.I have tremendous sympathy for his parents.I have no doubt that the poor kid is dead but I guess you never give up hope.
