Can auto fuel spilled on a man's leg cause blood poisoning?
Several years ago, a friend carried auto fuel in an open topped watering can for some distance. As he walked, the fuel slopped out of the can and down his leg. This resulted in a severe swelling of his leg which hospitalized him for a number of days.
My friend is 93 and is living in a condo unit. Last week the hall and lobby mats were cleaned with some strong smelling chemical which resulted in a flare up of my friend's leg. He must sit with his leg elevated. Is there a medical term for this condition so I can do further research?
Thank you.
