Vet. why aren't you there, if it was the other way around I bet the dog would take you to a doctor.

    how true is that
I do think you should take the Dog to he vet too rule out anything sinester good luck
Time to see the vet, never try to solve this type of problem yourself.
Don't know. If you love your golden as much as I do mine I would suggest you take him to the vet.
I have to agree with mycatstorm. It does not sound good.Take him to the vet & make sure he is not in any pain.
could be testicular cancer. That's what happened to my frineds' old spaniel :-/

Take him to vet and get castrated. We had same problem with our old dog , same breed. Fixed problem. Died from old age just old age three years later. If gets larger will keep him from exercise, which will cause more health problems. Good Luck.

Needs to be seen by a Vet could just be infection, cyst or an innocent tumour. Needs to be checked as Tommy says he may have pain - very best of luck. Sorry noticed this qurestion was posted 3 months ago just came up here.

I never heard of a dog living to be 14 ! Maybe it's time for him to hang up his toys and leashes

My fox terrier lived to be 22. An inoperable tumor in her kidney is what did her in. Otherwise you would never have known she was 22.

Because a pet has a prob, does not mean, its time to hang up its toys, time to take it to vet. He can give you the best advice. Guess, dog should of been already taken to vet, incase it is in pain.

There is no set time - it is all according to the health and welfare of the dog.

didn't know dogs lived that long.Thx for letting me know, everyone.

i THINK the people that wrote above are very inconsiderate of the question and how it was answered, did you ever think that she was just looking at this site for information I took DO TAKE MY 14 YEAR OLD DOG TO THE VET but also try to search for even more information and for the other that said hang the leash up ???  ReaLLY?????  i WILL HANG YOU.... DID YOU EVER THINK OF THE PEOPLE AT ONE POINT THAT DID HAVE JOBS AND COULD GO TO THE VETS HALF OF THEM ARE GIVE YOU ESTIMATES NOT RESULTS BELIEVE ME.  MAYBE THEY LOVE THEIR DOGS AND JUST DONT HAVE THE MEANS AS THE RECESSION IS STILL IN PLAY AND ALSO FOR THESE POOR DOGS ........ this is full of people with no compassion and off this site I go and will be getting it off all together.  You are probably vets that give out those high estimates that rob us and scare us to death.....

Are you advocating home treatment for something that might be quite serious?
If you can't afford a pet, you shouldn't have one.
