In politics as in much else in human life, "truth" is often unobtainable but even when it is, it matters little if it is not believed. Perception is everything! If most voters. or most of those who vote Republican, believe he is an alien, then that belief, merely because it is widespread becomes relevant politically and, as far as the 2012 election is concerned, it becomes as near fact as makes no odds. In the same way the original Boston Tea Party was a ruse by a very corrupt and crafty politiician to persuade the gullible that the tea was some fiendish Tory plot with nothing whatever with Sam Adams' desire to preserve his monopoly of the supply of tea (at a high mark up) to Boston retailers. But it has always been perceived as Adams wanted it perceived, including notoriously today's Tea Party. Again perception is all that matters. Facts are the enemy of every convcition politiician, and will always be ignored or twisted to decieve the gullible.
