        Nene is correct "shingles" is one of the Herpes group closely related to chicken pox. They are very painful and not just for a couple of days or weeks. There have been incidents of discomfort up to 8 years after the inital infestation.

        I personaly have had 3 attacks over 40 years. If you are lucky and your doctor diagnoses in the first 2---3 days there are tablets that knock it on the head, problem is misdiagnoses.

          Emy, The virus that causes "shingles" is herpes. Don't know how you get it. But, I've had them and they are very painful. Try Google Ask a doctor.
