I used to but my back yard is full so I have no where to bury them.

When I was away in the army dad wrote saying he wanted to dig up the back yard and plant potatoes but it was to much work for him.
I wrote and told him not to dig there as I had hidden a hitch hiker. Next thing I get a letter saying the police had been and dug up the yard and what should he do.
I wrote back and told him "Plant the spuds"

Have to disagree ed, it is not the way the world has changed it is the way the people in it have changed. TOO many freakin dogooders out there letting weirdos roam the streets, or in the case in question, the roads. "Oh he had a bad childhood" "Oh he is interlectualy challenged" " Oh he was bullied at school"
"Oh put a label on him but don`t whatever you do punisn him, it`s not his fault"

Bull twang at some time we all should be held accountable for our behaviour If you read this and disagree YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.

Stop world while you still can!

I agree completely, But lets not forget to give the Government some credit as well. Budget cuts which allowed the mentally disturbed to be dumped in the streets was a shame.
Never. though I have given a lift our local people in the village and the children who have missed the bus for school
I used too all the time, but I simply don't trust anyone the way I did years ago. Even though I have a carry permit and sometimes carry. I'm still Leary.

I have not picked up a hitch-hiker since the 70's.. And that was a girl believe it or not.. we had a blast, went bar hoppin' she was actually good looking, she was in a disagreement with her boyfriend and got out of the car and hitchiked, I was lucky, I was the first car that came by.. I had talked to her a few times after that but nothing ever became of it.. What a story to pass to your grandkids.. LOL

Picked up a young chick also many years ago, she smelled like a goat, I had to drop her off quick before she ruined my interior.

When you mentioned Ted Bundy i can remember a dreadful crime.
We had a fella here in Australia in the 1990s that would prey on young overseas back packers that were hitchhiking around Oz.He terrorized and tortured them and put them in shallow graves, obviously they never returned to their loved ones.He is currently serving a prison sentence and never to be released.

I know and we have a lot of cops around. You're not even allowed to walk down the highway. You're suppose to wait in your car if it breaks down. Eventually a statey or the state truck will come along to give you assistance.
I don't even see panhandlers anymore, or people with the signs, "will work for food".

We have panhandlers all over the place and every Sunday they are given news papers to sell while they stand on the corner.
Only if they promise too behave.
I don't see as many people hitching a ride anymore. But I have only picked up someone once anyway. I wouldn't even bother anymore it's to dangerous.
No, it's just too dangerous these days.
Only if they aren't carrying an axe with them, lol. I carry a gun with me. I think it's way to dangerous these days, there are a lot of crazies out there.
good luck, if you become deceased can i have your apartment?
In Australia, it's ilegal to pick up hitch-hikers. But some people do and end up buried somewhere in the bush.

    It is here too.
I used too but after a friend of mine was murdered by a hitch hiker I just don't do it anymore

Whoa, sorry to hear that! It can be very dangerous even if you carry a gun.

An High school class mate was found guilty of killing a young woman who offered him a ride, he then stole her car a was caught shortly after. He did get thirty years. He dated my wife for a short time.
