In the US it is quite customary for a single parent to prepare for the ultimate of everyone's life and decide to put the house title in their and their children(s) names in order for the property to be sold at some point after their death. I have never heard that when this is done that a re-evaluation is done on the home for tax purposes. My mother did this shortly after my Dad died and the taxes on the house did not go up. Go to an attorney and have them draw up the new title to be recorded at the County Registry of Deeds.
