My GS doesn't she just flops.
I've heard it's out of instinct to make sure they aren't going to lay down on a snake, or what forever suggested to make a nest. I guess we will just have to ask the dogs if they ever learn to talk or we invent dog collars like the ones in the movie "Up?"
Mine also turns in circles when he has to poop.
To get comfortable and acclimated to their particular surrounding I should think...don't really know..just a thought
Some say that it is to "prepare" their bed, another is to trample the vegetation warding off any pests in the grass. The latter is from their make-up from when they were wild, most dogs are domesticated these days.
No actual evidence as to why they do it though. Hope that helped??
    beats me
how do I stop my dog from peeing in the house after he's been outside for 45 min.
