I had a sad upbringing. My life got better when I left my fathers "rule by the fist" ways. :)

Colleen isn't it nice to know you now have a worldwide family of friends

Yes it is. I've always had friends from everywhere. Like I said in another thread, there's very few countries in this world where I do not have a friend. ;)

I hear you Colleen. My dad was abusive when he was drunk which was regular. Not sexual abuse. But I got some beatings you would not believe. It was around 1965 when I started hitting back & the abuse stopped.Harder for a girl to do but you got thru it & seem like a nice person to boot.More power to ya!

"But I got some beatings you would not believe"

I'm sure I would believe them. We suffered under his beating. He didn't quit until he couldn't lift his arm or legs anymore. He would use anything at hand. Horse whip, hammer, 2X4, lead pipe, split my sisters head open with a metal can one time, baseball bat...whatever was handy.

I grew up and vowed never to be like him. I had to lose my anger quick because I knew it would make me like him. It took a lot of years but I finally was able to forgive him. What's past is past, what's done is done. I lived it for a reason and I accept that. :)
I have contacted the anti discrimination board re this question as it clearly discriminates againts the "old folk" and the kids.
The first vehicle I ever drove was a one horse power sulky. See you in court matheneyg.
