A cup of tea was 50 pence and a bun 60 pence. Therefore 4 teas equal 2 pounds and 5 buns equal 3 pounds and total five pounds
I really used to hate these problems when i was at school.
    4T+5B=500 pence, B= X+10 pence
    4T+ (5T+ 50 pence) = 500 pence
    9T + 50p = 500p or 9T= 450p
    so T= 50pence & B= 60 pence
