    if i adopt a child, would i be eligible for benefits for that child?

    my friend pased on and left her baby girl, there is no one else and i hate to se her bounced around in foster care, but i dont have lot of money.

    If you do not have a lot of money, you will not be allowed to adopt the baby. The only benefits the baby will be eligible for is survivor benefits if her mother had a job. The benefits probably won't be all that much though. If the child is a baby, she will more than likely be adopted quick and not bounced around.

    Where's the baby's father? His family would have a right to take her if they want as would any family members on her mother's side.
    Well have someone take care of the baby untill you get enough money then you can be the parent for the baby!
    And POOR BABY!
