We got to eat. That was our weekly allowance.
Of course we also had to work on the farm to earn our food.
Something tells me, we got screwed.

No way Colleen, I was the same, saddle the horse take the calves out to the back paddock then walk 2 miles to school bare foot.
What we had makes us what we are and I am proud of what I am now. (hasn`t always been the case)

To People Lover ----I spent my whole childhood wishing for a horse, a swing set, and a sand box. My parents said NO to everything. A kids back yard pool would be nice too
Ditto to that People lover.I went to school barefoot. After the milking.I was allowed to do an afternoon paper route for allowance money, but then still had chores to do when I got home.
The opportunity to not make the mistakes that I did. Those mistakes on my part cost me dearly and the price I have paid cost me to this day…but I also learned along the way when to dodge bullets and sometimes it is best for others to give you a better choice by forcing me to leave. Not everything that happens is a happy choice when opportunities are not accepted and love denied. Everyday life is not trivial, and routines, though seeming to be boring, can make all the difference in your success tomorrow. What I miss the most from my youth is all those people I knew and loved.

I miss being able to have fun without wondering what other people might be thinking of me.I have tried to think at what point in my life did it begin to matter and when was the first time I felt silly.

I remember that, mom. It started at about the sixth grade. I never felt self concouis till then . And of course, Jr. High was a big cultural shock! 3 years of hell . Now days, it's what they call Middle School
Not a damn thing. Fond memories started after I left home at sixteen.

I knew what I didn't want to become. Had a few bumpy years after leaving home. But "Everything is Everything" now.
blond pony tail, blue eyes, long, long eye lashes. i didn't think one thing about these assets in my youth. i didn't like the way i looked. i thought i'd be dead by the age of 30. thirty sounded so old.
i miss most my eyelashes. people commented on them. but one day, i noticed they're gone. they don't have that grand sweep. i don't even need my eyelash curler. boooooo.
