For some reason the name Scott McKenzie comes to mind, but regardless of exactly who sung it...it is a beuatiful song that has always drawn me into listening to it with appreciation.
Thanks Shootah...You are correct. Scott sang it. I can actually remember where I was when I first heard it about 40 years ago.
Do you all remember the good old 8 track. I still have some Neil Young and Elvis on 8 track. My grandmother gave me a car that had an 8 track in it - it was a peach. I finally had to get rid of the old gal when I moved overseas. The car, not my grandmother) LOL

I have to correct something I accidently overlooked, as Arlo Guthrie was responsible for a lot of well known music...but this is one of the more memorable songs of his that came to mind.
Ah Shootah - I did the same with Norman, but didn't realize he had 24 other songs till I googled him..
I love Arlo too.
Thanks for the TU

when i was about twelve i heard a song -- maybe once!
i know the tune.
I know nothing more about it except these few lyrics.
Jim had just broken up with me. it was indian summer. my heart would never mend.
"i see my darling
in each ray of summer sunlight
i see my darling in the rain that falls
i see him walking in the rainy autumn twilight
and hear his name in every black bird call." circa 1965
