    Disappointment...

When i was a child, i used to collect seashells and listen to the ocean by placing them to my ears during the night time. But as i grew up i learnt the fact that the 'sounds' coming out wasn't the ocean rather the echoes of the cochlea's 'sloshing' that's filled with fluid in the ears :(

What facts disappointed you? any age, anything.

When I was little there was a picture of Mary and Jesus hanging on the the wall. Whenever I prayed in front of the picture with my head bowed, a candy would fall down on top of me. As I was about 6, I saw my grandmother throwing the candy against the wall as I was praying. I was so disappointed it was not Mary and Jesus giving me the candy for beeing a good girl and saying my prayers.

    Awe, that's so cute though...

    Thanks Leeroy.
Like the rest of us here finding out that the childhood fairy tales like Santa and the Easter Bunny weren't true, was heart breaking. I remember feeling so betrayed over the fact that my parents would lie to me. It was crushing to me, I never thought parents would lie to their kids.

The other let down was when I found out that I wasn't a Billionaire by the age of 30 and semi retired. I blame myself for that one.

Santa Claus is too real!!! ;(
    doublehelix

'Billionaire by the age of 30' ha ha . aint that a true disappointment :)
    leeroy

Yeah, I actually was on the right track for a while. I just gave up to soon and didn't stick in there, who knows how far I could have gone.? I never though I would live past the age of 40, yet here I am a few years past it and still alive...
My big disappointment was when I got a night time sales job to try to supplement my income and my 1st wife accused me of cheating on her, only to have her to turn up pregnant with another mans child.
    doublehelix

wow, that must have been a huge shock :O
    melandrupert

oh Randy this must have been awful for you why do people cheat so much!
Santa Clause was one. And finding out I wasn't found under a cabbage was another.
    doublehelix

Santa Claus would definitely be mine too
    LMao :)
    doublehelix

    Found under a cabbage?
    eggplant

If you asked some parents where you came from, they would say they found you under a cabbage. So, I guess that's why I'm an eggplant.
    doublehelix

    HAha LMAo
when i asked where i came from, they just told me 'You were born from your mum's stomach' and i'd be like 'how?' they'd say 'from your mum's stomach'
i guess that manipulated my mind a bit as i never asked again...
I think the biggest disapointment was when I was in love for the first time and found out he was not perfect.
    melandrupert

Cruel people can be cruel to people of all ages, not just kids :(

Santa brings them bills for not believing. Santa karma. :)
I dont remember beliving in Santa or the tooth fairy but my duaghter fighting the issue is killing me.. "my mom wouldnt lie to me" breaks my heart.

I was disapointed as a child when i realized my father was not a loving and caring father.

    melandrupert

sorry to hear this pythonlover this must have been hard for you
    robertgrist

That discovery became a plot-line for some form of murder in my own child mine. My covert-hostility toward family members made leaving home without regrets much easier.
disappointment is a result of putting trust in yourself
    robertgrist

Interesting...I found disappointment in trusting other to be a little grateful for what I gave them. My own failings have been intentional generally. Now, as my brain is faulter-ing along it's sad to see the body breaking down after all my childish self-abuse.
Santa, The Easter Bunny, never existed. I saved the tooth fairy some cash though, my teeth usually ended up on the sidewalk. Wish I got smarter sooner. Would have saved me a lot of pain back then.
    melandrupert

sounds to me ed that you didnt have much of a child hood and i am sorry to hear this
    ed shank

Most of my recollection was not pleasant. Too many step fathers will do that.
    (AGING)"BUT,LIKE WINE"!
when I was a wee boy, the future looked so exciting with all the spaceships, hover cars, robots, interplanetary travel etc etc

    I'm still waiting, patiently! ;-/
    doublehelix

yep , were waiting too :)
I'll be back when I can think of a disappointment.
    robertgrist

I love you but I refuse to ask you to marry meā€¦are you disappointed now dear?

I know I already answered earlier but was thinking of one more huge disappointment for me as a young teen. My most outstanding disappointment was NEVER DEVELOPING BOOBS...lol
    doublehelix

    he he :)
    ed shank

Boobs ain't all that. Legs baby, the legs.
    leeroy

O.k., I won't flirt with you anymore... Lol...
