Defuzzing The Myth: The thought that shaving your face will cause the hairs to grow back thicker and darker is a conspiracy theory that the beauty industry has promoted in order to make us spend thousands of dollars trying to get rid of what a simple 99 cent disposable razor can. I have been razoring the fine hairs off my face for years after a makeup artist told me about doing it for flawless looking skin in photographs. Makeup glides on afterward, plus foundation and powder won't become attached to those fine hairs and illuminated in your photos, especially visible in (Yikes) High Definition
Newport Beach plastic surgeon, Dr. Edward Domanskis encourages his female patients to shave their faces to slow the aging process. He says that by removing the top layer of dead skin cells, the exfoliation can result in a tightening and plumping up of the skin through constant cellular rejuvenation.

Should Women Ever Shave: According to some beauty experts, women should be shaving their faces just as men do because the daily practice keeps skin youthful thanks to exfoliation.
"It’s like a mild form of microdermabrasion, so encourages collagen production, which reduces wrinkles. Whenever there’s trauma to the skin, collagen is stimulated to help cell renewal."
Prager added that the idea that hair grows back thicker after being shaved is a myth.
"Cutting off hair above the root won’t cause any feedback to the follicle, which is the live part that produces the hair and sits below the skin," he said.
"People might think hair looks thicker because it comes out at a different angle or blunt, rather than tapered to a natural point, but it won’t be changed on a cellular level."

Beauty Myth Buster:
Believe it or not, there are loads of benefits related to removing your facial hair besides actually getting rid of the hair itself. One of the biggest benefits to facial shaving is exfoliation. Facial shaving is like a mild, girl-on-a-budget alternative to dermaplaning. It removes the top layer of dead skin cells like no other exfoliator, which results in smoother, tighter, glowing skin. Plus, when your skin is smoother, your liquid and powder makeup applies and sets more flawlessly.
But what about all of the old wives’ tales and myths that say removing hair, especially facial hair, causes it to grow back thicker and darker? Well ladies, I’m here to tell you this is absolutely FALSE! According to Lawrence E. Gibson, M.D. shaving does not in fact alter the color, thickness, or rate of hair growth. Hallelujah! When we shave, we are just scraping the surface of our skin, creating a blunt tip. This blunt tip is what creates the common misconception that hair grows back thicker or darker because it might appear to be more noticeable. Dr. Gibson assures the only reason your hair chemistry could change would be from a separate medical condition or side effect to a medication. So shave away, ladies
