Regardless what program your running a Macro is simply a file that contains the key strokes (commands) that you issue. Then you assign it a name so that it can later be modified or deleted. The Macro will also be assigned a keystroke the computer will interpret to run the file. Since pressing the Alt and another key, or ctrl and another key are seen by the computer as one key stroke this combination is frequently used.
