    i have a 2001 dodge neon r/t and recently the car accelerates by its self

    Take it to your Dodge dealer. Don't trust it to others as you probably need specific replacement part. I have 2004 Neon and so far no problems. Good luck!
    Maybe there is a ghost in it. Get it fixed.
    BTW: I don't know if in 2001 chrysley had 'drive by wire' but I am betting you do have this feature.. It means that there is no physical connection from your accelerator to the fuel delivery system, it sends a signal to the computer and the computer sends a signal to the fuel delivery..

    This is not something you can fix with your 3/4" socket wrenches and a hammer.. get it to the dealer..
    I think I would be towing one 2001 Dodge Neon R/T to the garage.. Don't try to drive it there..

    This is something that can kill you and others around you..
