Strickly speaking, it's considered profanity. I use OMG when astonished, and I do thank God quite often for stuff.
It DOES bother me when people use Jesus Christ to express exasperation and annoyance. My dad used it when he was disgusted and the way he said it made it sound like swearing. It was offensive when I was 10 and it's offensive now.

I am not a Christian but, I must admit it bother's me. I believe it's disrespectful.
I say "Oh my Goodness!" or " Geeze Louise and Cupcakes!" ... However, the impact of my words normally is not taken with conviction. Sad and true.

Yes, I hate that and it's in all the movies and TV shows. It's even the name of a new TV show about entertainment. It's called OMG something or other. I really hate it when the characters say " Jesus Christ! " as an expletive. The third commandment says, " Thou shall not take the name of the Lord, thy God , in vain.'' What's really shocking lately, is that I've seen some of these young people put " OMFG" on FB !! My cousin's grand- daughter, who's about 20 did that.

Not really I notice it, but don't say anything. Have you ever noticed anytime an Atheist see's something shocking or has an orgasm they shout, oh my god? People see unexplainable things and that is their immediate response. Earthquakes happen we see the video's and people are screaming for God.
But the rest of the time they don't need Him, they just ignore Him? The planes falling out of the sky and people are calling for Him.
People make those promises to God like,"God if you give me this or that I will start going to church etc. etc., If I get this promotion I will get right with you. Well Somewhere deep down inside of us, whether we choose to recognize Him or not, we call on God in our hour of need.
Maybe we should look into why that feeling is there? Instead of asking for help at the last minute. I'm gonna give you a t.u. on the question, let me ask a question if you car was stuck on the railroad tracks and your door was hard to open and you began to panic like most people would, what or who do you think most people would cry out to ? or say ?

I'm not actually asking for God when I say "Oh my god" I've heard it being said all my life growing up so it's kind of imprinted in me. Just like someone who grew up with god in their life, it's imprinted. Just like when people say any other curse word, they don't actually want to Sh! or F#@ someone, hehe
Thou shall not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain Exodus 20:7 This the third commanment and the ten commandments comprise the law of God
