I would like to know the differences between buddists and hindus?

I like both religions because of their respect of all living things and animals and also because of their belief in reincarnation. Other then that what are some main differances if any of you are these religions it would help. Thanks!

Buddhism and Hinduism both have their origins in India and Lord Buddha, the prophet of Buddhism, hailed from a Hindu family. In fact, Hindus even consider Lord Buddha to be a part of ‘dasavatar’ or ‘ten reincarnations of Lord Vishnu’. However, there are quite a few fundamental differences between both the religions.

Hinduism strongly believes in ‘Atman’, the soul and ‘Brahman’, the eternity of self. As per Buddhism, there is no concept of the self or I and salvation involved in realizing this concept.

Hindus worship several gods and goddesses. While Buddha did not deny the existence of any god, he preached that it is futile to search or seek something which an individual is not even aware of.

Buddhism came from the Hindu religion. Hindus believe in the one God. That God has many different forms because God has many different jobs. The many Gods are for those still in the kindergarten of religion. Hindus believe that God is all pervasive and omnipresent. Hindus also speak about giving up desire and merging with God. They also do not preach hate for other religions or people and they do not say they are the only way.

Buddhist believe in an all pervasive intelligence. Buddha never spoke about God. He preached about giving up desire as desire is the root of all unhappiness.

They are both beautiful religions which do not preach hate.
I hope this has helped you. I am a hindu myself and I am an Anglo Saxon, not an Indian.
Both are the Karmic/Dharmic group of religion. Hindus consider Buddhism as one of many streams of Hinduism, as the core concepts are essentially Hindu. However, outside of India, Buddhism took its own shape and identity and evolved quite differently than Hinduism. In India, like other spin-offs of Hinduism, Buddhism collapsed into the Hindu fold for all practical purposes.
Hinduism is never far from belief in God, which unlike the Abrahamic religions is more conceptual than personal and angry. Buddhism however is strictly a non belief philosophy. The emphasis of both Buddhism & Hinduism is self elevation, with ultimate goal of attaining Nirvana perfection. Both are different than Abrahamic dogma in that no prophet bails you out and puts you in heaven.
