Correction, Billions!!! Because it's all free money to the politicians, who aren't held accountable to the voting population.

I'm sure if a vote were taken there would be an end to wasting money on countries who don't like us very much.

The politicians need to wake up and smell the coffee, we can't afford to spend a dime outside our country now, we need to restructure, and rebuild our country, once we fix our problems then maybe we can help other countries.

It is all political. The biggest reason though is because they have nuclear weapons. If the government becomes un-stabilized these weapons could fall in the hands of terrorists.
