Should it be mandatory for you to keep your room clean in your parents house, if you are not paying rent?

I totally agree with Vinny and Coleen, and to add this quote by my mother to me when I was about 15. She had just told me to clean my room and I said that it was my room and I liked it dirty. " She replied its not your room its mine and I'm just letting you stay in it until you graduate so clean it or move"

    GOOD ON YOUR MOM

No, be as messy as you want. Leave half eaten boxes of Chinese food on the floor and leave your wet bath towels under dirty Sox and boxers. Get a cat and keep the litter box in your room, but don't clean it. DO NOT make your bed....don't even wash the sheets. Toss garbage towards the trash can, but always miss.

    That will show her.

The answer is in your question--- "it's your parents house'.. As a kid living at home you have responsibilities too, this is one of them. When you become an adult and move out, you want to live like a pig, knock yourself out, you'll lead a very private life, You can't put lipstick on a pig or spray it with perfume, its still a pig.
YES, IT'S THEIR HOUSE AND THEIR RULES. KEEP IT CLEAN AND LEARN FROM IT. HAVE YOU SEEN THE TV SHOW "HOW CLEAN IS YOUR HOUSE", HOARDERS? THEY ARE PIG STYS.
Yes, even if you pay rent you should keep you own room clean and help keep the rest of the areas you are living clean.
Yes and as part of the family, a child should also have a daily chore that is not paid for and a daily or weekly "job" in the house or in the yard that will earn them an allowance.
    Absolutely!
Oh yes do they pay the morgage! if they do then you do it if you pay the morgage they should clean there rooms its part of a learning curb and we are on a learning curb for rest of our lives
my boys say no, but a neat room is a great training ground for life. a little neatness and organization is a very good thing. call me anytime miss answers!
    yes.
    Yes........
YES,and if you work for income I believe in paying board. It teaches you that there comes a time when you have to pay your way. In my opinion parents who don`t get board are teaching "everything is easy to come by" They are doing you no favours in preparing you for the big bad world. BUT as I said my opinion.
    yes! and more!!
Yep, and your room, and bathroom, dishes, laundry, vacuuming, dusting, ect. If you required this I'll bet they will find another place to live.
Thank you all. I wanted to know others opinions so I can share with my kids. My two boys think they are hard done by.
