Hi I have just bought a load of old quarry floor tiles for my house but there are a load with old paint and plaster on them. How can I safely restore them to a good condition?

If it is water based paint you can clean with methylated spirits. put them in an containe in a single layer and soak. Oil based paint will require stripper but check one tile for adverse reaction to stripper. As for the plaster it is careful removal with a chisle. Patience is the most important.
