She may know more than she is saying. I found my birth father when I was 24. He died 6 months before I found him. My mother knew where he was. But she did not want me to be hurt by what i saw in him. Good luck.

Make sure the spelling of his name at birth is accurate. It would help a lot if you know his birthdate (at least his age), the city and state he was last known to be, under what circumstances was he taken away from her, and the hospital he was born.
There are many good attorneys now that can act as intermediaries between your mother and her son if he's considered an "adult" in the state in which he lives in.

Ask your mum for more information, as to where at least she gave the son away, which state, which hospital, what kind of family and such.
She must have some kind of information on the family, she couldn't have just given the baby away in a minute to total strangers.
