      It depends on the state, since there are both Federal (consistent everywhere), and state taxes. Either way, it is generally 30 to 40% or more of the total price. It is a lot, but it helps pay for the very expensive road system. A sort of "user fee," per say.
      Check you state, then check the federal and add them up (which I will likely do next, since you have me thinking...).
