Why do you trust that the Bible is factual and accurate?

Priests will tell you it is accurate. But how do they know? How does the Vatican, or anyone really know for sure? Does it matter?

You either believe it or you don't. It's called faith.

Any answer to this question would not satisfy those who have never took an impartial look at it. My personal experience was I sat down and began researching the bible, along with the pro-bible commentaries verses the anti-bible commentaries (both sides) and weighed the evidence. If you have a bias you will simply just agree with those having the same bias as you do. This takes much time, I spent about two years on it and that was studying almost everyday for a couple of hours each day. Once I was satisfied that the bible was a true historical accurate book I then weighed what it had to say against real life, or reality.

I chose to believe the testamonies and so now I have both knowledge of history and faith in what that history has revealed.

There are more than enough websites out there both pro and con. You must be critical of both sides commentary and see for yourself if what they are saying actually matches up with the historical facts. The "KingisComing" is a very good pro-bible site that lays out the facts. "AnswersinGenesis" is a great site that goes up against Evolutionist, laying out the evidences and facts. Many sites just print out rhetoric without substance, be careful of this. Some anti-bible sites have some good points or raised questions as well, but be careful of those who just simply hate any idea of a God and have an agenda to discredit the bible.

There are some hard sayings indeed.

Yes, I agree you must look at both sides, even if there are aspects of either side that are sickening.

Simply put,the Bible has prove of it own,you just haft to read it for yourself ,and stop taken everybody opinion.after you read it,you tell us if it true or not?

The bible is faith based. You have to believe with your heart, and when you do... the bible comes alive for you. As tht bible is a living breathing being. I am 59 years old, raised by a preacher and a Godly mother...and i have been taught from my youth, the bible, but today i still find things that even tho I have read them over and over, that become alive and new. FACTUAL and ACCURATE....!YES! and so I choose to believe.

it's the inspired word of god, what other book can stand up to that test...

Is the Bible the Inspired Word of God?

By Jason Carlson and Ron Carlson 5/25/11

During a question and answer session at a recent speaking engagement, a university student asked me, "Why do you believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God?" Now this is a very interesting question; and

probably one of the most important questions any Christian could ask themselves. What is so special, so unique about the Bible that Christians believe it is literally the inspired word of God?

In answering this student's question, I encouraged

him to consider the following facts about the Bible:

First, the Bible is not just one single book. This is a more common misconception than many people realize, especially with people who do not come from a Judeo-Christian background. Rather than being a single

book, the Bible is actually a collection of 66 books, which is called the canon of scriptures. These 66 books contain a variety of genres: history, poetry, prophecy, wisdom literature, letters, and apocalyptic just to name a few.

Second, these 66 books were written by 40 different authors. These authors came from a variety of backgrounds: shepherds, fishermen, doctors, kings, prophets, and others. And most of these authors never

    knew one another personally.

Third, these 66 books were written over a period of 1500 years. Yet again, this is another reminder that many of these authors never knew or collaborated with one another in writing these books.

Fourth, the 66 books of the Bible were written in 3 different languages. In the Bible we have books that were written in the ancient languages of Hebrew,

Greek, and Aramaic; a reflection of the historical

and cultural circumstances in which each of these

    books were written.

And finally, these 66 books were written on 3

different continents: Africa, Asia, and Europe .

Once again, this is a testament to the varied

historical and cultural circumstances of God's people.

Think about the above realities: 66 books, written by 40 different authors, over 1500 years, in 3 different languages, on 3 different continents. What's more, this collection of books shares a common storyline- the creation, fall, and redemption of God's people; a common theme- God's universal love for all of

humanity; and a common message-salvation is

available to all who repent of their sins and commit

to following God with all of their heart, soul, mind and strength. In addition to sharing these commonalities, these 66 books contain no historical errors or contradictions. God's word truly is an amazing

    collection of writings!

After I had shared the above facts with this student,

I offered him the following challenge: I said to him,

"If you do not believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, if you do not believe that the Bible

is of a supernatural origin, than I challenge you to a test." I said to the student, "I challenge you to go to any library in the world, you can choose any library you like, and find 66 books which match the characteristics of the 66 books in the Bible. You must choose 66

books, written by 40 different authors, over 1500 years, in 3 different languages, written on 3 different continents. However, they must share a common storyline, a common theme, and a common message,

with no historical errors or contradictions." I went

on to say, "If you can produce such a collection of books, I will admit that the Bible is not the inspired word of God." The student's reply was almost

instantaneous, he emphatically stated, "But that's impossible!"

"But that's impossible!" It truly is impossible, for

any collection of human writings. However, the Bible passes this test. The Bible contains 66 books, written by 40 different authors, over 1500 years, in 3 different languages, on 3 different continents, with no historical errors or contradictions. The entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, bears the mark of Divine inspiration.

The next time you encounter someone who asks

you why you believe the Bible is the inspired word of God, try sharing this challenge with them. Better yet, don't wait until you're asked, just go ahead and

share this challenge with a friend today..

You don't even have to mention the Bible up front,

just ask them if they think it would be realistic to assemble such a collection of books. After they say, "But that's impossible!" you've got a ready-made opportunity for sharing the truth of God's word with somebody!

Believe what ever you want to believe, it's called FAITH....

It's all due to brainwashing. Constant brainwashing...

    I don't. And, I don't trust dirty old priests.

I think the answer was here:

    http://www.akaqa.com/question/q19194773-The-uniqueness-of-the-scripture

We can be sure, that that the text of the Bible is authentic and accurate by taking a closer look at the old manuscripts that still exist. We will note the accuracy with which the Bible have ben copied.

Interesting is, tht the Quran has many things to say concerning the authenticity of the text.

By studying the thousands of manuscripts extant in our time and comparing them with one another, we can see that the original text has been accurately passed down to us. Existing today are some 6,000 manuscripts of either all the Hebrew texts or parts of it.

The Dead Sea Scrolls, discovered 1947, have demonstrated that centuries of copying and recopying have not distored God's message.

So I trust that the text of the Scriptures has not been corrupted. I m sure that the Bible has not been chanched. (<  I commended this, because esp.  my Muslim friends say :"The have chanched the Bible  many times". But the can't show any text.>)

The library is filled with books by so many authors. That does not make the library filled with fact based or accurate stories.
