why do people eat meat? its murder. its bloody savage and cruel. Innocent, beautiful, helpless creatures are tortured and murdered. They suffer horribly and feel intense fear and pain. What is WRONG with you people??? Go vegetarian! Also, it is a horrendous WASTE of natural resouces and a BIG contributor to global warming and loss of natural habitat for millions of other creatures. SO WHY DO YOU DO IT AND WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR BRAIN, HEART AND SOUL????

    "I pity your offspring"

As do I yours V. You're a very angry and self centered person. You would judge others because they do not do as you do. Too bad. If we were not meant to eat meat, we would not be able to digest it and our bodies would not derive any nutrients/vitamins from it. Man made vitamins are no good for you. The body does not know how to break them down properly and use them. The best way to get vitamins is to get them naturally.

Oh and you're arrogant too....were you perchance looking in the mirror when you typed out all those words meant to insult?
    pej

Hi, V. I hope you still read this. Im sure you have good intentions for the animals. I read your post, I heard your pleas asking for mercy for the animals that you passionly care about... let be honest here, Com on, V, don't call ppl name. It's Disrespectful and ignorant. I chose to be pesectarian for personal reasons and they are mine alone, but I don't force my ideas down on someone's throat or trying to convert them to become vegetarian or pesectarian by any means. We are who we are by the choice we made, the life style we live.

Cow farts contribute to more pollution than the emissions from cars...

Oh dear! I must tell the cows to toot less!
If all of us had to raise, feed and care for the animals, and then slaughter them ourselves each day for our meat, I would bet most of us would turn back to being vegetarians.

I grew up on a farm where we did hand raise and hand feed the livestock (sometimes the mothers would abandon their young, and we would have to hand feed) We still slaughtered the animals for food. Chickens, rabbits, pigs, cows all slaughtered by my father and gutted and cleaned by the children. Pigs boiled to remove the bristles. We did it all. Best meat you'll ever eat is homegrown and home cured.

I'm sorry you were put through that.

Didn't bother me. I understood certain animals on the farm were food and others were pets. Doesn't mean I love animals any less.
    FreedomFighter

True, but it also doesn't make it true just because your parents believed it and passed it down to you

FF, go find someone else to annoy. Why are you targeting me and not all others here? I eat meat, I like meat and will eat meat the rest of my life. Deal with it.
    FreedomFighter

I could care less if you or others eat meat. Read my answer to "How Much Do Our Parents Influence Our Lives," or something like that. Or not, I was just pointing out that many of us think we need to blindly carry on our parents beliefs and traditions, and perhaps not ever learning anything different.

What beliefs and traditions of my parents are you inferring that I carry? Because I eat meat? If my parents were vegetarians, I would have probably started eating meat as an adult. I've always loved the smell of a steak or roasted chicken. We were not allowed sweets as children as my mother saw them as bad food and not good for the body. As an adult, I eat sweets. Maybe not as much as most people who grew up eating them but I still eat them. If I learn nothing different about eating meat, it's my choice to not learn. I enjoy eating meat. It has nothing to do with tradition.

"I understood certain animals on the farm were food and others were pets." A lot of people don't view animals this way, but all should be liberated from our bloodthirstyness.

    Bloodthirstiness? I'm not following you.

We were taught to respect all animals. Whether they be for food or for pets. They were treated equally. You're a believer in the bible. Even God (O.T.) said some animals were meant to be food. He even gave a list of animals that could be eaten and a list of animals that should not be eaten and even mentioned the animals that would be used as beasts of burden. So if one (not saying you here) tells me I'm wrong for eating meat and they believe in God, then they are telling God he was wrong for ever telling us which animals we could use as food for ourselves. The bible believer then contradicts the God they believe in.

Correct and well said . I agree.

Take a chill pill.  If you want to be a vegetarian go ahead by all means, but that does not mean everyone else has to be.....

V  -- let me break some bad news to you. Humans evolved to todays place on earth because apes began eating meat , and yes, fish.  So you evolved as you are today  because your ancestors ate meat. Enjoy your plant life.

Hi I'm Doctor Doolittle- you can call me Doc. I am assuming you are from the US- if not bear with me and keep in mind I am thinking of US practices.

First of all, It should be extremely obvious that I love animals- ALOT!!! And I think it's awful how some animals are raised-horrid conditions!  and the slaughter houses look scarry.

Now then, lets 'talk'.  If we allowed every animal that is alive and being raised for food to live out their lives and reproduce we would have a huge problem on our hands.  Shortly, the cattle, chickens, sheep, and pigs would run out of space.  Then they would undergo hunger and hunting to 'thin the heards'.  The hunters could take their kill home to eat.  And, my very educated guess, is we would loose a portion of our crops to wandering animals- which would be a HUGE problem as all of us would be consuming more beans and nuts along with certain veggies to get enough protien in our diets.  And we already over-fish so we would quickly deplete the waters of popular fish creating chaos and a new eco-system in the seas around the world.  (could we have dairy farms?).

When we supply the world's hungry with fod we send over powdered milk, soup, and water to reconstitute both.  The diet is high in protein and easy to digest.  When you are truly starving nuts and beans won't work...they are hard to digest...and that can actually kill people because your entire digestive tract and the enzymes and acids has changed and complex digestion is impossible. Plus, these folks need animal fats and protein to survive!

Yelling at people who like to eat meat doesn't work. If they are going to kill cows anyway shouldn't we follow the Native American thinking and use as much of the animal as possible (leather)??

My advice to you is to study the Big companies who raise and slaughter the animals.  What is a better way? Think about it...come up with a solution and many people will sign a petition (no one likes the idea of overcrowding animals and having them live horrible lives.  Be the One to Change this!  (It worked at the Pedue chicken plants with regards to what they were feeding the chicken!)

Keep me posted.  I'll sign a petition that has a reasonable alternative to what is going on now.

I eat everything on my plate and sometimes I eat the plate too. I encountered a vegetarian as a child  and offered him a bacon and peanut butter sandwich. He asked if  there was meat in bacon but I didn’t know what he was talking about so I said no. His concept of meat was unlike anything I had seen before so I didn’t understand his question or what he meant. When he learned what bacon is he was very upset with me, I didn’t know anyone could be so odd. I was about 5 at the time. Now I know about the various religious groups that don’t eat meat. It hasn’t influenced my diet whatsoever. I eat just about anything anyone else in the world eats and its too late for me to slow the slaughter of chickens and cattle and swine. Burp!

    Sick you!

How about you stuff your face with left-wing ideology and I stuff mine with grilled chicken, T-bone steak and Italian sausages. ( Not all during one sitting )

V back in the 1983-4 they made mini series ALIENS that came to steal the water are you one of them????????????""

Just one question:  For someone who asks a very good question, how come you sound as aggressive as a meat eater?

I don't know, but assuming your assumption is correct; Is your anger and uncaring attitude towards people who eat meat going to cause you to kill mercilessly and eat?

I'm really worried about you, you better save your energy.

Maybe you will read this maybe not . I am thinking of Richard Dryfus who had a terminal illness and wished to die . He argued his case before the courts to be granted death . This was a very compelling movie. Point being you are impassioned with your argument ,convinced in its validity. Now take it to the next level be more eloquent . Stopping meat eaters completely is unlikely   so why not try for those who eat meat to eat vegetarian several times a week this is gaining ground . Then try to improve the inhumane conditions for the animals . Then do some research into health outcomes for meat eaters over a life time . You have a good heart so I am offering only improve your argument as feed back .You are correct we all could do better as stewards of this planet .

ALL YOU SICKOS need to see Paul McCartneys "Glass Walls". Maybe that will help change your cruel, hearless ways. Check it out if you have the guts to see what YOU are part of!!!!
