It doesn't matter. Besides there's always the chance you'll get a thumbs up for your own answers. You can no longer get TU for your comments on this website. I don't know why. Sometimes I'd like to give them to people.
You're right. There are numerous sub-genres of fiction and non-fiction works. In the non-fiction category, I prefer biographies/auto bios and history.
In fiction, I enjoy historical fiction novels with characters set in a specific time-period or era and specific geographic location. My favorite author in this category is the late Mordecai Richler.Most of his works are set in my hometown of Montreal which makes it that more "real" to me. If you haven't read any of his books, I recommend "The apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz"

Yes, I have. It's been awhile though. It was played by Richard Dreyfus's in one of his very early roles. I think he was terrific and I truly enjoyed it many times over. There's a scene in the movie set in a Jewish deli-style corner restaurant that I've frequented many times. It's called Willensky's (maybe 1 L).The place hasn't changed in 60 years nor has the limited menu. A "special" and a cherry coke is what you'll order if you ever visit Montreal. It's an assorted kosher meats cold cut sandwich toasted on a 70 year old grill.It only comes with mustard. They used to charge an extra nickel if you DID NOT want the mustard. I kid you not. Not sure whether that pricing policy still exists since I wouldn't dare order it without for fear of being barred future entry.
I suppose that I may be somewhat partial just as a New Yorker would be towards Woody Allen. I like Allen and I am neither a New Yorker nor Jewish.
"Barney's Version" is another Richler novel-turned-movie. Enjoyed that one as well with Paul Giamatti and Dustin Hoffman.

It depends on what type of books you like. I like the agent Pendergast series of books by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. They're like a cross between Sherlock Holmes and The X Files. The first book in the series is called Relic which was made into a not very good movie. The book is much scarier and better. Or you could start with their Pendergast trilogy: Brimstone, Dance Of Death, and The Book Of The Dead. Take your pick if you so desire.

A really great book that won't take long is called "The little coat". It's about a little girl during WWII.

Hey monkey, I picked up a copy and finished it today. I plan on visiting the War Museum soon and will look out for the displayed coat. Hard to imagine the maturity of Bob Elliott for such a young lad,eh?
