    do you sift flour after you measure it or do you sift before you measure

    yes you should always sift flour incase there are bits in the flour and if you ar making cakes they always taste better and will rise more if sifted
    when the recipe calls for a cup of sifted flour, you sift into the measuring cup first. the cup amount is the sifted amount.
    You always sift after measuring. It makes no difference to the amount. It's still the same. You're making the flour lighter and taking out any rubbish.
