THERE WAS A SET OF LAWS CALLED CEREMONIAL LAWS AND ANOTHER SET CALLED THE MORAL LAW.
Jesus did away with the ceremonial system so you and I do not have to kill an innocent animal when we sin. We have the true Lamb of God. However, the moral law as described in the decalogue and which was placed inside the ark in the sanctuary was not to be abolished. Listen to the words of Jesus himself in Mat 5:17-19 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law or the prophets: I am not come to destroy but to fulfill." Let us take note of the following, Jesus came to magnify the law and make it honorable not to nullify the moral law found in the ten commandments. That is why today if I steal, I know it is wrong, if I bear false witness, I know it is wrong, if I commit adultery, I know these things are wrong because the moral law tells me so, not the ceremonial system of the old dispensation or the old covenant. If I remove the moral law, there is no sin in the world for "by the law is the knowledge of sin and sin is the transgression of the law."
Back to Mat 5: 18,19 "for verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law until all be fulfilled. whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven but, whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."
