That actually is very fast. Unless you are terminal, SSA can take up to 5 years to begin disability payments. Except for the volume of applicants, there is no reason for them to delay payments if you are indeed disabled. But even when they ok your disability, it will take 6 months for disability payments to begin. It won't change until enough people complain to their congress persons to change how SSA deals with disability payments.

thanx for your comments. i truly want to work but i am disabled now.i have nerve damage in my spinal cord and i have asbestosis.i have gotten in touch with my congressman and he has responded in a positive way so far.i can understand someone being skeptical about my situation though because so many people are on disability that dont deserve or need it.i hate not being able to work and my wife is contiually riding my back because i want to try and do things at home.my doctor says if i am not careful i could paralyze myself.I WANT TO WORK111111111
