Doesn't count where I work. I work very very hard and am very detail oriented and try my best to do the very best job I can and always will strive to do so. I try to think of all possibilities and work it that way and to no avail where I work........I find this sad, but I still have to have a job nevertheless.

Speaking as a supervisor - work performance includes 2 major things:

(1) Showing up reliably
(2) Doing your job correctly

Excellent work performance would include things like doing other jobs without being asked - showing interest in learning more about how things work within the company - helping others out if they need help - basically being a self-starter and a self-running type of person. Where I would not have to stay on you about doing things.

For instance - you work in a warehouse packing boxes - there's nothing to pack. Others may be standing around BSing, you grab a broom and start sweeping. That shows me that you're willing to work, learn and do.
