      Another bit of trivia, Isabella as many of the time thought the earth was flat, therefore, she sacrificed three ship and gave him a crew of worthless criminals in hope they would fall off the edge and never heard from again.. It was written by Columbus that more than once was mutiny attempted on all three ships. Obviously the crew thought the earth was flat as well..

        I'm Italian and I think he was Italian. Queen Isabella gave him the three ships to sail. Nina, Pinta and the Santa Maria She was queen of Spain.. Columbus sailed under the Spanish flag but he was a true Italian..
