WHERE WAS SAUL OF TARSUS CONVERTED?
THREE QUESTIONS:
Where was Saul of Tarsus converted? (Acts 22:6)
Is “being converted” the same thing as having our sins taken away?
If Saul was converted, had his sins taken away, on the road to Damascus, why did God’s messenger tell him, “What are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away…? Acts 22:16 NIV

saul was stricken down on the road to damascus ,by god we know,he was then blind, which represents our human nature, i. dont see him as being "converted" till his eyes were open,(which still holds true today) which was in damascus, not on the road to."what are you waiting for?" to me means waiste not a moment more, cause you might not have a moment more to waiste. true conversion would be the same as being forgiven only christ can wash away sin. baptism is telling the world your unashemed of being a christian!

Daren, Do I understand you to say that Saul had his sins washed away when his eyes were opened and the only purpose of baptism was to show the world that now that he was a Christian that he is unashamed to admit it?
thats what i come to beleive, look at the theif on the cross next to christ he was never baptised yet he was in paradise with christ
he sin was not yet washed away yet.not till his eyes were opened and accepted christ, nowhere does it say he was cleansed on the road to damascus. the point is theres no such thing as a "almost christian"he was on the road!

Daren, I think we are getting close to understanding what the Bible says. Now, did the baptism have anything to do with his sins being washed away?
i dont think baptism washes away sins rather a sign that the sin was washed away...your thoughts
Daren,
Thank you for asking for my thoughts. Perhaps it would be better to ask how do I understand the Scriptures? My wisdom isn’t worth much but God explains what He means by repeating important things in different ways. Please read the scriptures that follow.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF BIBLE BAPTISM?
• John 3:5 To get into the kingdom of God
• I Pet. 3:21, Mk 16:16 It saves us
• Acts 2:38 To receive remission of sins
• Acts 22:16 To wash our sins away
• Rom. 6:3-6 To get into Christ; To have unity;
• To get a new life; To crucify self; To be resurrected
• Rom 6:4, 5 To receive a new birth; To become free from sin
• I Cor. 12:13 To get into the body
• Gal 3:27 To cloth ourselves with Christ
• Col. 2:11, 12 So sin can be circumcised from our heart

i'm certainly not a biblical schooler by any means, nut from what i see i think maybe it refers to a spritual baptism rather than a physcal baptism.
Daren,
Good try but I have some problems with your idea.
• John 3:23 “Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was PLENTY OF WATER.”
• Acts 8:38 “And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch WENT DOWN INTO THE WATER and Philip baptized him.”
• Matt 3:16 “As soon as Jesus was baptized, he WENT UP OUT OF THE WATER.”
• Rom 6:4-7 “We were therefore BURIED with him THROUGH BAPTISM into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
• How many baptism have there been?
1. Jewish
2. Holy Spirit
3. Fire
4. John’s
5. Christian
The Christian world is divided on many aspects of baptism but to my knowledge everyone believes in water baptism. However, Eph. 4:5 plainly says that there was ONLY ONE BAPTISM at the time Paul wrote those words.
I conclude that we are saved only by the blood of Jesus but the gift of salvation is given WHEN a believer is baptized. What are your thoughts?
“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?... ye have OBEYED from the heart that FORM of doctrine which was delivered you. BEING THEN MADE FREE FROM SIN, ye became the servants of righteousness.” Rom 6:3, 17-18 KJV

I'm not opening a bible school, Colleen.
Just popped in to see what St Paul had done this time, other than to be the original male chauvenist pig.
Caused confusion by the look of it.
He got the message, which was a bit of a shock.
He believed it and trotted off to join up.
Clear?
And before you all furiously vote me down, I am a confirmed, practising Christian. I do feel more comfortable with Our Lord than with those who went before Him, regarding women as chattels.
I know women's emancipation is relatively new... or do we only think it is? Jesus cared about women and valued them, just as He valued children.

You say you're not opening a Bible school. I'm sorry to hear that. Your master told you... "These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deut 6:6-8
