If you have tried and failed you may want to get a highly recommended disability lawyer, sometimes a good lawyer really makes the difference. Good luck with it Jenn.

I did... still got the same answer...My husband makes too much money... which is odd we are choosing between meat or gas. Beans for dinner again.
That may be the problem, but I had years before I could get it, never had a lawyer but after I gave up my Dr. wrote a letter and I reapplied, they said I would need to see a judge,(It was scheduled but I never did) but then they called me out of the blue and said my check would be in my account in a few days.
You may not qualify for SSI, but did you try for RSDI? County's also have disability programs other then the aforementioned. Another way is to live in separate domiciles, at least until you get the disability.

SSA doesn't care if you are disabled or not. The only way you will get it on the first try is if you are terminally ill. Disability is defined as not able to do substantial work, making less than $1000 per month. However, the disabled still have to fight with the SSA to get the money that was forcible taken out of their wages all of their life, so the people are deserving of it if they meet the above rule.
Epilepsy and PTSD and not making more than $1000 per month EACH means you are qualified. It helps a lot if you have the medical records backing up your disability claim. You will probably have to appeal all the way to the district court, with an attorney of course.
I dont have any unnessesary bills. Mortgage, ins, elec, gas, phone w/ internet (we have to have internet for kids school), and food. NO EXTRAS. No cell phone no play money. The income allowence does not take into account that we are playing nearly $4 dollars a gallon for gas. and that the elec hike was insane. Things were tight but manigable before this mess. I am not the only one in this situation. It would be easy to say get a job. But that is not an option for me.
I have my med records. I was kinda shocked when I was dx with PTSD. But it was the US employed pshyc they had interview me.
You are not encouraging someone to dud the authorities are you FreedomFighter? surely the powers that be have to have guide lines, after all it is the taxpayers money not some money tree in the back yard. Jenn has tried a lawyer with no result so it would appear that she is not entitled to any help. Sad sometimes but money cannot be handed out willy nilly to all who feel they are entitled. There may be a charity that can sit down and work out a budget for Jenn,I am not suggesting they waste money just that it may be able to be better handled. I know in Australia such a service is free.
I can see your point and you are correct a lot of people are doing it tough in all countries. I assume you are in the States as petrol is $1,50 a litre in Australia so in round figures we pay about $A6 a gallon. Wouldn`t swear to that but close. Electricity cost have skyrocketed but I installed solar generating panels and cut my bill in half. The panels cost me $A2000 with the federal government paying some $A7500 for the balance. I own my own home (I am 79 yrs old)drive a 12 yr old car. I still think you should try to find out if you can get help working out your budget. Best of luck.
I hired a lawyer to mediate. They told me the same thing. My husband makes too much money.
