    AMBREAD

that is when the council of nicea decided what books the bible should consist of.and everyone knows mathew mark luke and john well these books where written by them or there immediate deciples of which there where many each appostle had 12 deciples just like jesus maybe to confirm accuracy of events and spread the word a pyramid effect these writings where written around end first century hence new testament.
Written over a 1,500 year span.
    Written over 40 generations.
Written by over 40 authors from every walk of life including kings, peasants, philosophers, fishermen, poets, statesmen, scholars, etc.
    BIBLE HARMONY
The Bible was written by approximately 40 writers over a period of 1,600 years. The writers were generally not conscious of the works of the others. They wrote from three different continents, and spoke three different languages. They were fishermen, farmers, shepherds, soldiers and kings. They wrote in palaces, pastures, prisons and tents. Some were highly educated and some were unlearned. Yet there is perfect unity—absolutely not contradictions.
The Bible is united in theme:
The Old Testament theme is Christ is coming.
The theme of the four gospels is Christ is here.
The theme of the last part of the New Testament is Christ is coming again.
The Bible is united in purpose:
The Bible relates to the need of human redemption.
The Bible is united in presentation:
If a 40 piece orchestra suddenly began to play – in perfect timing, melody, and harmony – it would be evidence of the direction of a single mind.
The Bible is not just one book it is a collection of books, 66 in all, and they were written between 1,500 BC and 100 AD or over a 1600 year span. It might be valuable also to note that of the 10 most reliable ancient history books the Bible predates the message of all others by 700 years. The oldest copy of these secular history books, in existence today, is from 300 to 1,300 years younger than the copies of the Bible. The greatest number of any ancient history books, not counting our Old Testament, is 634 books. We have 5,000 ancient copies of the Old Testament and 8,000 ancient copies of the New Testament. There is no history book in the world that is better documented for accuracy than our Bible.
A long time ago, before I was born.
the bible was written over a period of 1400-1800 years by more than 40 authors inspired by god. the first 5 books known as the "torah" or the jewish bible was written app. 1450-1410 b.c. the final books or the new testament were written app' 70-95 a.d.
    God only knows.
Daren1 has the OT dating approximated correctly. However, the NT was written before 70 AD. No mention of the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD is mentioned in any of the NT manuscripts, and this surely would have happened if written afterwards. Also, many of the writers were alive when Jesus was still here, and extremely doubtful that would be the case after 70 AD.

Actually, the bible was written by persons who did not know Jesus directly. No one who knew Jesus wrote about him in his time. He made little or no impact on people of his own time.
    Who collected the New Testament?
? John 14:25-26 “The Holy Spirit...will remind you of everything I have said to you”.
? John 16:13-14 “The Spirit of truth...will guide you into all truth”.
? Acts 8:17 “Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit”.
? The Holy Spirit guided Apostles and those they had placed their hands on to collect the Scriptures.
? The complete Bible, except for the last 5 books was collected by the end of the first century, during the Apostle John’s lifetime.
? The last 5 books were written at the very end of the first century
? The Oldest New Testament translation is the Peshitta Syriac.
? This book contains all the Old Testament and all the New Testament except II Peter, II, III John, Jude and Revelation.
? The Peshitta Syriac was completed about 80 A.D.

it is a collection of books combining lots of early beliefs and religions example the torah or in bible genesis to deuteronemy is jewish scripture leads up to geneology to christ then letters and revelation spanning 1500 years minimum of middle eastern history in nicea in 3rd century the ruling council elected what books should be included and which shouldnt including egyption myths and early mono deity religions so basicaly its a mish mash of many words over many years. phew.ish

Ambread, Five little boys sat one night around a lily pond and made the following proclamation: “Every (24 hour) day will have some light and some darkness in it.” Does the fact that these boys made the edict mean that they ARE THE ONES WHO DETERMINED light/darkness would be in each day? No! And neither did the council of Nicaea determine which books God, years earlier, selected to be part of the Bible and which He decided should be left out.
