    Xanex.... and me

I have been dealing with ALOT for the past couple of months... today as I was on my way to the grocery store I started crying and got very shaking. I pulled over and got sick. I went strat to my Dr. who told me(with tears rolling down her face), with all that is going on I need to speak to a councelor. Which I have no problem with. She would not give me any medication. My sister gave me a Xanex.. I feel guilty for taking a Rx that is not mine. But it really did help... Should I see another Physician?

    bumping.... sorry

Xanax does relieve anxiety but can be "psychologically" addictive. As far as liver damage goes or it becoming a physical addiction I would do a little research on that. As far as Xanax making you feel good, I beg to differ. If relieving you of stress is making you feel normal again, take it, but get to the root of what issues your currently having to deal with. It should be a short term solution.

Very well said! Also, very true!

i've taken xanax for the past twenty years. i take 3 mg. a day. there have been times when i've taken more and times when i've taken less. i take it for anxiety and i suppose i was just born with anxiety.
i haven't had trouble with wanting to take more than i'm prescribed but i have heard a lot of horror stories about it.

i haven't researched liver problems. i couldn't make it through life without xanax so it doesn't matter to me.

PROBLEM WITH XANAX IS THEY JUST MASK THE REAL ISSUES. THEY ARE GREAT IF YOUR LOOKING TO ESCAPE REALITY, A SHORT VACTION IF YOU WILL
ITS THE NEW VALIUM OF THIS GENERATION(ALL PART OF THE BENZODIAZEPINE FAMILY)DOWN SIDE IS LOSS OF MOTIVATION,MEMORY LOSS,LIVER DAMAGE...THE LIST GOES ON.(BEEN THERE) ONCE YOU STOP USING THEM REALITY COMES BACK AND HITS YOU LIKE A TYPHOON.THEY ARE EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE!! GETTING OFF THEM IS AS HARD AS HERION OR CIGARETTS.BEST ADVICE IS TO STAY AWAY COMPLETLY. SEEMS TO ME LIKE THEIR ARE PLENTY OF NATURAL OPTIONS.PERHAPS A GOOD START WOULD BE TO GET A FULL PHYSCIAL, TO DETERMAIN THAT THEIR IST ANY UNDERLYING PROBLEMS,OFTEN TIME THEIR IS! BEEN THERE BEST OF LUCK AND GOD BLESS!

Wowser ,,, All three are still here!!

I take Alprzaolam 1 mg a day. That is xanax a generic form. They help a lot when I need them. But are hard to get back off of.I'm supposed to take one and a half mg three times a day.Try a place called BIO INOVATIONS they have a web site. It's all natural meds and good prices.Leave xanax alone unless there is no other choice.can cause liver damage.

Hey girl I was just asking about you...happy to hear you are still alive and well and with us! Love and all my sincerest blessings to you!

Well first off you should never take prescription meds that were not prescribed for you and yes you should see another doctor. It is not bad to see a psych doc for meds but they need to be prescribed for you and you be under the doctor's care. I wish you well and check around and make real sure you find a good psych doc that really cares about you. Best wishes and I wish you well.....

    Hey Jenn,

please do not automedicate! Stuff that interferes with the central nervous system is not to be played around with, especially if it can cause dependency! Stick to natural recipes as long as you're not given a medical prescription.

And yes, go to a counsellor. Also, it would be great if you had a friend or family member on whose shoulder you could cry and let your worries out. You need a place where you can find shelter from your world's stress. Be nice to yourself!

I don't know what your troubles are, but don't punish yourself. Medication may supress the symptoms so you keep going for another while, but it does not solve the problems. They'll just keep piling up in the background. Go for some support, emotional and practical.

Thanks.. these things can not be "fixed" . Mostly death.. of loved ones... And trying to keep a pleasant attitude and view of death for me kids. It all just reaaly took its toll today. My husband is amazing... but I was much farther down the physo trail than he could go today.

Jenn, I was a pharmaceutical rep for years, never sold Xanax though. It is a benzodiazepine that is the most addicting drug in that family. You have other less addicting prescriptions out there. First and now most widely used is Klonopin or Clonazepam. Although developed as an anti seizure med it is now the most widely used anti-anxiety med. Very much less addicting then the rest. Next is Ativan or generically lorazepam. Then Valium, not highlt prescribed much anymore and the next most highly addicted and habit forming after Xanax. I know this from experience. There are other in this class but rarely used, Let me give you the names of NON-addicting prescriptions that have good effects on most. First is Vistaril, very good anti-anxiety med, then Buspar- both non addicting. Also many antidepressants have received anti-anxiety uses from the FDA. Effexor XR, Lexapro, and Paxil CR all are non addicting and will help depression and control anxiety. You should a psychologist for this problem they are the specialist in this field. Please ask me any question you might have or any med your Dr. might prescribed. With the right treating Drs. you will find peace. May God be with you, Jenn.

Raider, I am just fine now. I did take half of a Xanax one time.. I was very over whemled. I am a tough chick.. I bounce, not brake. I have no intention of taking any meds. I am going to talk to a therapist. So I dont drive everyone else nuts. Thanks for worrying about me. You are the best.. If the Dr. think I need any med (which I doubt) I will let you know.

xanex is a very powerful drug which will make u feel better . But remember it was the drug that made u feel good. xanex is very easy to get addicted to. It activates parts of the brain to bring on a feeling of ease and comfort.
Take the drs advice and try talking to someone. It can help you by just talking to another and saying everything thats on your mind. In other words, just let it all out to someone, you will feel better

    Jenn

I do let it out ... I have virbal diharrea... I am not holding back. I have just lost and am losing many ppl in my life to death. I was just a little over whelmed yesterday. I am back to my old chipper self today.

    Jenn

Thanks Banks, I am a believer even if I will never be th e child I would like to be. You are a good friend!

'I am back to my old chipper self today' I smiled when I read that. I am sorry to hear of your loses. But glad u are in a better frame of mind now.

I wanna share something with you, I grew up being a christian n believing in GOD. Then about 10 years ago i felt that there was no god. However after a few months of thinking like that, I came to realize that there is a GOD ! and 1 day every one i have ever loved and lost to death will be with me when I die. I think that believing in GOD will make that a reality.
