Most plants like any variety of fertilizers that can be bought at WalMart or a nursery. Look at the label and it will state whether it can be used for vegetables. I personally use Rapid Grow or even a generic brand. Vegetables to do not well sitting in mud all the time, the roots will rot. If you keep it in the pot, water it when the pot is dry. If you put the plant in the ground, water it once a week or even more when the weather gets hot. It will wilt to let you know it wants more water.
