I haven't seen a panhandler in years. I try to avoid where I might see them.

Ours are often sitting outside the bank entrances. Security guards are always making them move along.

No. I did buy a roasted chicken and I gave it to a homeless man that used to sit under a tree at the park a very long time ago.

@Ben: Might it be easier ( and safer) to keep it on a short chain ( the pan, not The Queen) ?

No. I want my money to go where it is most needed. There are dozens of agencies who assist those who need it and they have much more information about "those in need" than I do. Some panhandlers (not all) are simply seeking drug and alcohol money and are well known in this community, for doing so on a daily basis. I prefer to help support a rehab facility. To me, it makes more sense.

Yes, I have. I keep $2 bills on hand just to give. They usually make the taker very happy. It’s worth 2 bucks to feel responsible for making someone’s day if only for a little while....
