I just came back from the supermarket. The woman in front of me spent over $100. The cashier told her that she was...

entitled to free water since she spent that much. She thought about it and said "no thanks". My purchase only totaled $5.00. Would I have been "out of line" by asking if I could have taken her free water? If you were the cashier, what would you have said? Would you ask the manager? What if he said no?

....opinion: if the cashier did not offer it to me , I would not ask

No problem in Aussie,if we get offered a freeby and we do not want it we just give it to the person behind us...once the freeby figure is reached it does not matter who gets it..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..

Seems like common courtesy, doesn't it?
