Like most others, my thoughts centered around WHAT WERE THEY DOING THERE AND THAT FAR BACK TO BEGIN WITH? Turns out it was a form of dare. Like a club initiation in order to write their names on the very back wall. I can see this, understand the whys and wherefores. Who thinks about a little rain or the ups and downs of a little adventure? Forget WHY it happened, let concentrate on getting them out. A two mile, up and down, narrow trek and hardly any of them can swim. This is the stuff nightmares are made of. One navy seal has already died, lack of oxygen. What a conundrum......

Are you sure it was a dare? I've watched hours of coverage on all networks about this and not once have I heard that. All I've heard is that "cave diving" is very common over there and considered a 'must see' tourist attraction. People are taken on tours to see the caves and the coach thought it would be a nice added adventure for them. Is that information all wrong?
I read or did I hear that it was a form of custom to get your name on the wall with all the others. Wish I could find my source, I’d post it. Seems perfectly reasonable to me. For that many daring a narrow and deep cave all at once and together well, there’s comfort in numbers. No one in that group was willing to risk being called chicken.... I’ll look
Not familiar with "Daily Star" but similar set up and writing style to that of "National Enquirer"? Sensationalism perhaps. I'll wait to hear the real story when the book comes out. I do hope they all get out alive. Many will no doubt suffer the consequences for life.
